There is something about a supercomputer and predicting what the Premier League table might look like once the season is said and done, isn’t there?
FootballWebPages, via the Express, could not help themselves as they have decided to release another version as to what their supercomputer has predicted as we edge closer to the halfway point of the 20/21 season.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Liverpool are favoured to retain their Premier League title this season despite all of their injury troubles. Although perhaps more of a shock, Jurgen Klopp’s Reds are expected to win the division in style.
Manchester City, though, are predicted to finish sixth after a rather poor start by Pep Guardiola’s men. The Etihad Stadium outfit were expected to challenge Liverpool for the title once again, although injuries certainly have not helped the Sky Blues.
If Manchester City were to finish sixth, they would then be required to win the UEFA Champions League if they were to qualify for next season’s edition. However, those using betting24 will perhaps feel that they have a good chance of doing that after an impressive group stage.
Like the Citizens, Arsenal have had an awful first part of the Premier League season, however they have started to turn things around. Mikel Arteta’s men recorded victories against Chelsea and Brighton and Hove Albion in back-to-back games, but that form is expected to come to an end shortly.
The supercomputer has predicted that the Gunners will finish in the bottom half of the table, with a 13th-placed finish. Could it be curtains for Arteta?
Manchester United are predicted to finish seventh as they are expected to have a huge collapse in the fixtures towards the end of the campaign. With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side playing the way they are now and where they currently find themselves in the Premier League, it would have to be a huge collapse.
Frank Lampard’s Chelsea are currently on a poor run of form and the FootballWebPages supercomputer expects them to continue in some form as they predict that the Blues will finish in fifth, thus missing out on the UEFA Champions League – Roman Abramovich will not be happy!
In the biggest shock of the prediction, Aston Villa will finish second behind Liverpool and just three points behind the Reds.
Tottenham Hotspur will finish third under Jose Mourinho and finish just above Leicester City as Brendan Rodgers will take the final UEFA Champions League place.
If this is what has been predicted, then we could be in for a very strange 20/21 Premier League season indeed.
