Neymar Jr is widely regarded to be one of the best footballers on the planet, despite many not quite seeing him in the same way as others do.
Nonetheless, the game could be argued to be better with the Brazilian legend than it would be without him. However, that was something that almost happened.
Indeed, Neymar has revealed he considered quitting football at one point in his career, although the Paris Saint-Germain superstar has refused to reveal just when that was.
Speaking to Giffer Magazine, the South American spoke about the moment where doubts started to enter his mind about whether he wanted to continue to play football but then spoke about the love for the game that he has helped him come back down to reality – just like all of us looking for the livescore today.
“Once I got to the point of wondering if I wanted to keep playing football, since people don’t like it,” he said.
“I went home one day with a hot head and then I began to remember everything I did to get here. The love that I have for football it calms me down and that brought me back to reality.”
Pressure would likely have been a reason as to why he might have considered quitting football, especially considering he cost PSG a cool £200 million to sing him from FC Barcelona back in 2017. But, according to Neymar, pressure is not something he ever has any concern with as he believes it is something he can handle easily.
“I’m a person who easily handles pressure, that is why I am the 10th of the Brazilian team, PSG and I am simply Neymar,” he said.
“I’m very grateful to represent teams like PSG and Brazil. I know I have to give 100 per cent when I play because that’s what everyone expects.”
The 28-year-old has proven to be a little difficult to work out during his time at the Parc des Princes, as he has been unhappy but also happy at times, thus making it a little hard to work out how he is actually feeling.
He handed in a transfer request in the summer of 2019, but it is thought he could be about to extend his stay in the French Capital on a new long-term – and lucrative – deal.
PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi said the club were confident of getting a deal done, whilst Neymar has revealed he is happy to stay at the club.
“I’m very happy here in Paris,” he said. “I’m very happy at the club, with my team-mates. The idea of leaving has not crossed my mind.
“We need to talk. We have a very good relationship. I’m very happy and we will see what happens in the future.”
Let’s wait and see…
