Frank Lampard is reportedly set to be handed around £150m to spend if Chelsea’s transfer ban is lifted, with Jadon Sancho thought to be among the club’s top targets. The Dortmund winger is valued around €100m (£86.2m) as per Transfermarkt and is wanted by a host of European clubs including the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United.
The Blues’ appeal will be heard by Court of Arbitration for Sport on November 20, having already serving half of a two-window ban for breaching rules relating to the signing of underage player
Although the ban has allowed many of the Blues’ younger players to enjoy great success, Lampard has admitted he will try to make additions if he is given the green light.
According to The Telegraph , the Blues boss will have a pot of £150m thanks to the funds gained from last season’s Champions League qualification, and the summer sales of the likes of Eden Hazard and David Luiz.
Eden Hazard has obviously fetched a large chunk of cash, a chunk that will always be added to as he earns Chelsea bonuses as he goes.
Of course, the talented youngsters have filled in the gaps and many of them will be pushing to keep Chelsea from signing players in their positions.
But even with that said, Frank Lampard has himself admitted that Chelsea will always look to sign players in certain areas should they feel that it will improve them. One area that will certainly need improving in the summer is on the winger position.
Why Sancho’s move from Dortmund would be perfect for Chelsea
Pedro will leave at the end of his contract this summer, and Willian’s future is also unclear with his contract running out at the same time.
With the thought of the above scenarios, it opens the room for Sancho to fill in the winger position when he moves to London.
If the Blues secure Champions League football, the signing of Sancho could be very realistic, should the player want to move.
If he does, everything points towards him going to Chelsea. He will be guaranteed regular first-team football under a coach that fully trusts young players.
He already has close friends playing at Chelsea in the shape of Tammy Abraham, Callum Hudson-Odoi and many other youngsters from the England international squad.
Moreso, Lampard has already shown his willingness to slot in youngsters when given the chance. And if quality and reputation is taken into account, Sancho is already far rated than Chelsea’s current youngsters. Meaning he would be coming into an environment tailor-made for him to thrive.
Much recently, the Dortmund winger revealed that former Dortmund star Christian Pulisic (now at Chelsea) was the one who convinced him to move to the Bundesliga from Manchester City. Obviously, they must have a real close friendship for Pulisic to have had that effect on his fellow youngster. When you look at this way, If Chelsea are actually interested in Sancho and Pulisic convinced him once, what’s to say he can’t do it again?
But perhaps most crucially, his father has admitted that Chelsea ‘would be the ideal club’ for his son, according to Chelsea fan and businessman Frank Khalid, who spoke to him recently.
Khalid featured on the Alex Goldberg ‘Byline’ podcast last week and revealed that he had a chat with Sancho’s father, who is part of his son’s advisory team.

Sancho would be an excellent addition to the Chelsea squad and it is a pursuit that has a realistic feel about it, rather than just another silly season transfer rumour.
There has yet to be any kind of confirmation of interest from Chelsea from any solid sources yet, but it is a link that it is widely expected to grow as we approach next summer.
